Terroir

The Murray Darling wine region in Victoria, Australia, is blessed with sunny days, starry skies, and fertile soils. This Mediterranean-like climate, with dry summers and mild winters, minimizes disease pressure and promotes healthy vine growth. Drip irrigation supports the vines, while careful canopy management protects the fruit and enhances ripening. The property’s east-west running vines, combined with its gentle undulations, create unique microclimates that further enrich the growing conditions of the grapes. Nestled within a sweeping bend of the Murray River, the river serves as both a vital water source and a source of inspiration.

Vinification

Courteney’s minimal intervention winemaking philosophy emphasizes showcasing the terroir and the fruit. The grapes are picked at 24 Brix and fermented at 73°F. The selected yeast, RC212, facilitates a robust fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation to enhance complexity. A judicious use of oak enhances the fruit character without overshadowing it, making it perfect for early enjoyment.
