Terroir
In the area of Nierstein, iron-rich red soils predominate. There is good drainage, driving the vines' roots to dig deep for moisture. Close to the Rhine river, there is a moderating climate influence.
Vinification
For the spatlese, grapes are late-harvested according to pradikatswein rules. After the addition of yeast, the fermentation is stopped via temperature and filtration while some residual sugar remains. Acidity: 7.3g/l,
RS: 52.5 g/l
Aging
This spatlese is aged in a combination of neutral oak casks and stainless steel tanks.
