Weihnachts Wein specializes in crafting festive holiday wines, with a focus on Riesling and Dornfelder. On the red side, their Dornfelder brings a rich, velvety texture with dark berry flavors and a subtle sweetness, making it an ideal winter warmer. In the area of Nierstein, iron-rich red soils predominate. There is good drainage, driving the vines' roots to dig deep for moisture. Close to the Rhine river, there is a moderating climate influence.
Viticulture
Viticulture is conventional, with mechanical harvesting for most vineyards.
Vinification
For the spatlese, grapes are late-harvested according to pradikatswein rules. After the addition of yeast, the fermentation is stopped via temperature and filtration while some residual sugar remains. Acidity: 7.3g/l,
RS: 52.5 g/l
Aging
This spatlese is aged in a combination of neutral oak casks and stainless steel tanks.
Tasting Notes
This Weihnachts Wein (Christmas Wine) is a beautiful sweet Riesling Spätlese from the Rheinhessen. Explosive citrus aromas jump from the glass and follow on the palate. This is an easy drinking, fresh white wine perfect for celebrating the season.
