Prosecco News – January 2018

Prosecco continues to surge in the U.S., according to recently released IRI data. While total sparkling wine dollar sales increased 6.4% in IRI channels in calendar 2017, Prosecco outperformed the category with a 21% gain to $212 million. Total shipments of Prosecco to the U.S. are estimated to have surpassed 6 million cases in 2017, according to Impact Databank, up from less than a million cases in 2010. E.&J. Gallo’s La Marca brand continues to drive the Prosecco category, with a 34% dollar sales gain in IRI channels last year to $94.5 million. La Marca is the only imported sparkling wine brand selling over 1 million cases in the U.S. and is among the 10 largest imported wine brands overall.
