Tasting Notes

While not yet bottled, the 2016 Vacqueyras Les Restanques De Cabassole looks to be a superstar wine from this small estate. Loaded with lots of black fruits, chocolate covered cherries, graphite, roasted garrigue, and ample minerality, it’s a big, rich, concentrated Vacqueyras that has building tannins and a big finish. It’s going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age and cruise for a decade in cold cellars. The blend is 60% Grenache, 27% Syrah, and the rest Mourvèdre and a mix of permitted varieties.
