Tasting Notes
A very classy, Bordeaux-inspired blend. The component parts are 58% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Cabernet Franc. The combination of low yields (one bunch per cane), the richer soils of the Bridge Pa area (versus neighboring Gimblett Gravels), and attention to detail in the winery have provided a sumptuously textured, full-bodied expression. It offers a high level of fruit concentration, excellent integration of oak (18 months) and good complexity. There's an array of flavors from classic plum, florals, chocolate, cedar, coffee and the merest hint of dill on the lengthy finish. The tannins are satisfying and embrace the mouth. As well as having a delicious glass of wine, you can also burn some of the calories you're drinking by just picking up the heavy bottle and pouring it. While this has the intensity and structure for the medium to long term, the texture is such that you could enjoy it in youth too.
