The 2019 Montefalco Sagrantino is dark and brooding, with a smoldering blend of cherry sauce, grilled herbs and dark chocolate forming its bouquet. It floods the palate with textures of pure velvet, weighty yet refined and polished in feel. A dense wave of ripe red and black fruits slowly saturates. Youthfully monolithic, yet with complexities lurking beneath the surface, this finishes staining, structured and long with a pleasantly bitter tinge that lingers on. All of the right components are in place for the 2019 to enjoy a long maturation, but patience will be required.
