Tasting Notes

Crushed black cherry, wild herbs, balsamic spice and hints of undergrowth come together to form a dark and moody bouquet on the 2015 Plani Arche Montefalco Rosso. On the palate, silky textures usher in fleshy ripe red fruit, as zesty acids add vibrancy, and a mix of sweet minerals and tannin slowly saturates the senses. The finish is long, teeming with energetic wild berry fruits and spice, with a twang of salty minerals contrasting a tug of grippy tannin. I find myself enamored of this wine and its unique blend which really shines through: 60% Sangiovese, 25% Barbera and 15% Sagrantino, all in perfect balance.
