Tasting Notes
The 2013 Guado de' Gemoli, Chiappini's Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend, is a prototypical Bolgheri red. Flamboyant and generous, yet also super-refined, the 2013 is sumptuous and deeply expressive from the first taste. Raspberry jam, sweet spices and new French oak are front and center. The oak is a bit pronounced at this stage, but that is a relatively small critique for a wine that delivers the goods. Even with all of its natural intensity, the 2013 retains a good bit of freshness.
