Tasting Notes
First made in 2016 as a single vineyard release from older vines, the 2023 Cornas Chapelle Saint Pierre is perfumed, exotic, and floral on the nose, with ripe blue fruits, violets, graphite, and pepper, along with a bright, piercing sense of minerality. It's medium to full-bodied and has ripe, firmer tannins, terrific overall balance, and outstanding length on the finish. Aged 20 months in 228-liter oak barrels with no new oak, this shows the quality of this newer bottling and is well worth seeking out. It should benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and evolve for 20 years or more. Drink 2030-2043.
