Tasting Notes
The red 2020 Coma Vella was produced with a blend of 70% Garnacha Peluda and Garnacha de País, 20% Cariñena and 10% Syrah (from limestone soils) from a warm, ripe and powerful year. It fermented with some 10% to 20% full clusters and indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and oak vats and matured for 12 months in oak containers of different sizes, with around 15% to 20% new wood. It's ripe without excess, Mediterranean and aromatic, a little earthy and rustic, with abundant, slightly dusty tannins that call for food. 18,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2022.
