Tasting Notes

The Mediterranean white 2020 Coma Blanca was produced with Macabeo and Garnacha Blanca (50% each) from four old plots on slate, alluvial and limestone soils, which seem to give it complexity and an extra dimension. It fermented and matured for nine months in 500-liter oak barrels, 30% of them new. It's not a shy wine; it hits the scale at 15% alcohol but keeps the balance and poise. It has a bright, almost fluorescent yellow color and a showy, ripe and decadent nose of caramelized yellow fruit, pollen and beeswax. The palate is round but has fine granularity, keeping the poise and balance. 1,968 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2021.
