Tasting Notes

This wine will satisfy your pinot cravings without breaking the bank, a lovely wine at a great price. It shows straightforward aromas of dark cherry, cherry cola, strawberry, and allspice but with plenty of seductive hints that reward rooting about in the glass. A bit of crushed rock minerality and an herbal subtext, rosemary with beetroot lurking in the background, give the nose interest and depth. The oak provides the spice but with no overt woodiness. On the palate, the cola note is salient upfront but a wave of mineral top notes, cranberry, and anise open up the midpalate and launch the finish. Medium weight and juicy, the wine’s sensual charm comes from a silky mouthfeel that continues throughout its gentle, deliberate evolution. The medium length finish shows remarkable fruit persistence on top of peppery yet soft tannins. Crisp acidity gives it backbone but doesn’t bite. This is very solid winemaking.
