Tasting Notes
The 2014 Reserva Familiar Brut Nature was produced with Xarel.lo grapes from an 80-year-old vineyard on limestone soils from their Terroja property. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, and part of the wine fermented and matured in chestnut wood barrels. It refermented in bottle, where it matured with the lees for some 100 months. The nose is dominated by toasty notes, hints of smoke and nuts, yeasty, nuanced and complex. It has pungent flavors and a palate that is lighter than I expected, still lively and with abundant bubbles and a bitter twist in the finish. 6,460 bottles produced.
