Vineyard

Domaine Serre Besson is the lucky custodian of old vines. The vineyard slopes down from the forested mountain crest with the Syrah planted at the highest elevation and the other varieties continuing down the slope.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested by hand, transferred into small 20 kilobins, sorted by hand, destemmed and dropped into gravity fed cement fermentation tanks. Parcels and varietals are fermented separately for optimal blending.

Tasting Note

The Vinsobres blend changes according to the vintage, but is typically 50% Grenache, 35% Syrah, and 15% mixed Cinsault, Mourvedre, and Carignan. It opens on delicate aromatic herbs, ripe strawberries, a touch of vanilla and toast from the new oak. The finish, combining a stimulating freshness and a nice ripeness, is slightly accented by the spicy tannins. A beautiful Vinsobres to enjoy with grilled meats and aged cheeses.
