Tasting Notes
The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva opens to notes of cedar spice box, cloves, dusty dried florals and cherries. There’s a pliancy and inner sweetness here that soothes the palate, as mineral-tinged black fruits and hints of brown spice glide across its silky framework. Hints of tobacco, balsam herbs and dark, dark chocolate linger through the long and only lightly structured finale. This is a very nicely balanced Riserva that will only require short-term cellaring to show its best.
