The 2018 Etna Rosso Ciauria opens slowly in the glass to reveal a savory bouquet of tart cherry, dusty roses, hints of incense and animal musk. Here I’m finding silky textures giving way to a concentrated yet harmonious display of wild berries and peppery herbs. Fine tannins come forward through the finale, framing the expression nicely, as this concludes with salty minerals and dark inner florals. The Ciauria is nicely balanced, full of character and a great value in Etna Rosso.
