Dried flowers, tobacco, dried cherries, mint and anise are some of the signatures in Abbona's 2012 Barolo Ravera. The 2012 features bright acidity - one of the signatures of Novello - but at the same time, the aromatics are a touch forward. I expect the 2012 will always remain a bit edgy and nervous in style, but I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later, before the fruit drops out. The 2012 is an excellent choice for readers who want a Barolo that offers a good deal of aromatic and flavor complexity.
