After the last two years we’ve had, any chance we can get to celebrate and spoil the special people in our lives, we’ll take. And so, with Mother’s Day coming up this year on Sunday, May 8, we thought we’d help you out with those celebrations by sharing some of our favourite ideas for gifts.
From perfumes in beautiful bottles, to slick coffee machines and salon-grade blow dryers she’ll have for years to come, here are our picks for what to get the mum in your life this year.
Luggage
With travel picking back up, it could be time for your mum to get some new luggage. Beat her to it by getting her a suitcase for Mother’s Day. Melbourne-based luggage and travel bag brand July have a range of sturdy bags to choose from and, until April 12, you can get free personalisation (normally $65) on a piece. Pick the luggage your mum would like and then her favourite text, colour, emoji and placement.
Coffee Machine

Hair Dryers
Give your mum or wife the gift of looking like they got their hair professionally done even when they haven’t by getting them a quality hair tool. Make-up

Perfume
One spritz of Diptyque’s Do Son Eau De Parfum 75ml ($95) promises to transport the wearer to Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. The sweet floral scent has notes of fresh orange, iris and rose, as well as amber wood and creamy musk as a finish.
Candle
A Mother’s Day gift guide wouldn’t be complete without a mention of candles. Grab one for Mum from Glasshouse’s limited-edition Mother’s Day collection Velvet Rhapsody ($54.95) — the collection also includes body bars, lotions and a scarf — or from Diptyque, Tubereuse Candle 190g ($112), which smells like tuberose, a flower found in southern India.
