Vintage 2012 was in a word love~. Our Estate Lakeside Ranch grape production was back up by SO% over vintage 20 I I at a well ripened and rather flavorful 2. I tons per acre. Ah the cyclical nature of perennial crops.
We played with 2 close~ relate yeasts to test the efficacy of reduced hydrogen sulfide production (rotten egg aroma). T'was rather successful with clean ferments and ensuing fruit-forward wines. After over 2-years' maturation in oak barrels, our tasting panel decided on an all Cab blend of about a third Estate fruit with two thirds from our good friends, the Plummer's.
