Vijariego 2022
“The red 2022 Vijariego Negro was produced with grapes from their own vines. It fermented with 30% full clusters in concrete and matured in 1,500-liter oak foudre and 500-liter oak barrels for 10 months. The reds have a creamy profile, as all the wood was new in 2022. It has more black than red fruit, different from the Vijariego elsewhere. It has plenty of tannins, more than usual (at least in other zones) that are going to require time in bottle. In future vintages, the oak should be less marked. 2,600 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2023.”
