“The 2020 Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio a'Frati is quite imposing in its first impression. Black cherry, gravel, incense, tobacco, licorice, menthol and dried herbs confer somber intensity, an impression reinforced by the wine's imposing tannins. I would give this a year or two in bottle to soften, but even so, readers should expect a virile Riserva for the dinner table.”
