“As with the other cuvées brought in by Ordonez, the 2016 Protocolo Tinto Organic is a step up over the non-organic release. Made all from Tempranillo from 30- to 70-year-old vines, this smoking value boasts a deep ruby/purple color as well as terrific notes of ripe black fruits, cured meats, and peppery herbs. With an almost northern Rhône like character, medium to full-bodied richness, and shocking elegance and length at the price point, it’s a terrific red to drink over the coming 3-4 years.”
