About WesMar Winery

WesMar Winery is a result of the combined efforts of Kirk Wesley Hubbard and wife Denise Mary Selyem and of course dog Zoey. They learned about wine making and the wine business from working with Ed Selyem, Denise’s father at Williams & Selyem Winery, for several years in the mid to late 1990’s. In 2000 they left Williams & Selyem Winery and started their own winery, WesMar Winery. In March 2000, they began to restore part of an old apple processing warehouse in Sebastopol, CA. This is now the home of their winery, where they carry out all phases of winemaking. They love working with a local agricultural product and seeing this raw product to its final stage, wine. They enjoy the relationships fostered between grape growers, suppliers, customers and themselves. They relish being business owners, and working together in all facets of their wine and endeavor to make wine for everyone’s enjoyment! “I like to tell people that our wines always contain five ingredients or less: fruit, yeast for primary fermentation, malolactic bacteria for secondary fermentation, tartaric acid to adjust the ph(sometimes this is not necessary), and sulphur as a preservative. I also tell our customers that our wines have a VERY low level of sulphur. We are minimalist’s in the winery, we use a very light hand in the winemaking and the five ingredients is a testimony to that.” – Denise Mary Selyem, winemaker
