Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon
Chiappini holds 27 hectares of vineyards, across four different parcels, of alluvial calcareous deposits. Elevation is minimal at 70m with rows oriented east-west.
Azienda Agricola Chiappini was established in Bolgheri by Giovanni Chiappini and comprises 27 hectares of hand-harvested vineyards. The Chiappini family moved to the area from the Marche region in the 1950s and only sold wine in bulk until 1978. Giovanni’s first vintage was in 1999 with Felciaino. He learned winemaking at the feet of his father and the rest of his family. While Giovanni is responsible for the vineyards and wine production, his daughters Martina and Lisa, who joined him as soon as their studies permitted, manage sales, marketing and the cellar. Their winery is located on the Via Bolgherese, immediately adjacent to Orenellaia and Le Macchiole. Giovanni farms his vineyards organically. The falcon is represented on the label because it’s a democratic animal…flying from above it can see all the people on the same level without distinctions. This is important to Chiappini, as in this land of great noble names they are one of the few farmers left.
