Brewery Overview
La Trappe is brewed by Brouwerij de Koningshoeven, located within the Cistercian Abbey of Our Lady of Koningshoeven in Berkel-Enschot, the Netherlands. Founded in 1884, the brewery was established to support the abbey’s community and charitable work. To this day, La Trappe remains one of the few authentic Trappist breweries in the world—its beers are still brewed within the abbey walls under the supervision of the monks, and profits are used to sustain the monastery and support charitable causes rather than commercial interests. Known for its craftsmanship and deep monastic tradition, La Trappe produces a wide range of classic Trappist ales, including Blond, Dubbel, Tripel, and Quadrupel. The brewery’s guiding philosophy emphasizes authenticity, balance, and contemplation, reflected in its long-standing motto: “Taste the silence.”
