Winery Overview
Archer Roose was a rebel of the Gilded Age who traveled the world with boundless curiosity, living by her own rules. The original oenophile, she explored far-flung regions on a quest for the best wines made from the finest ingredients. Our wines tell the stories of the places she visited, and our logo — Archer atop her moose — reminds us that adventures, like wine, should be a little whimsical.
Vineyard is 3,608 feet above sea level, and the average grapevine age is 15-20 years
Vinification
Our Malbec is made via carbonic maceration and fermented with select, native yeasts at a temperature between 78-82ºF, with a combination of pump-overs and delestage. The pumpovers are done forcefully at the beginning of the fermentation and more gently towards the end in order to extract tannin from the skin of the grapes, not the seeds.
Aging
After 14 days of skin contact, the wine is aged over fine lees for six months.
Tasting Notes
Dark ripe fruit, with notes of vanilla, blackberry, and plum. Refreshing with a lingering finish.
