Archer Roose
Pinot Grigio
Italy, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Friuli Venezia Giulia
White
Winery Overview
Archer Roose was a rebel of the Gilded Age who traveled the world with boundless curiosity, living by her own rules. The original oenophile, she explored far-flung regions on a quest for the best wines made from the finest ingredients. Our wines tell the stories of the places she visited, and our logo — Archer atop her moose — reminds us that adventures, like wine, should be a little whimsical.
Vineyard is 100 feet above sea level, and the average grapevine age is 60 years
Vinification
Following hand harvesting, the grapes were whole cluster pressed to ensure delicacy in this wine. The juice was cold settled and racked, before fermentation by native yeast ensued. Fermentation temperatures were maintained below 72ºF, and persisted for 14 days before completion to dryness.
Aging
Following fermentation the wine was racked off its coarse lees, and aged on its fine lees for 6 months, with battonage twice a month.
Tasting Notes
Fresh, bright scents of white flowers, citrus fruits, aromatic herbs, and the sea.
