Winery Overview
Vignerons from father to son for several generations, the Laurens family perpetuates a tradition and an ancestral culture. In 1975, Gilbert Laurens settles on the family property and farms a 1.5 ha of vines in the appellation area on the steep slopes of Clairvaux. It was in 1983 that Michel Laurens, after studying oenology and gaining experience as a cellar manager for eight years, returned to Clairvaux, teamed up with his brother and together they decided to enlarge the vineyard. Making 100% Fer Servadou based wines from the now 21 hectare family estate. Great value red and rich rosé. One Star in the 2009 Guide Hachette. The appellation of Marcillac is found in the western part of Auvergne, nestled in the mountain range known as the Massif Central. The vineyards lie along steep slopes in a remote valley that offers a beneficial micro-climate. The valley draws warm and dry air from the Mediterranean during the summer and fall and also shelters the vineyards from the harsh winters.
