Description
Delpech Fougerat VS cognac is distilled with lees in traditional Charente style stills. The grapes come from sustainably-grown vineyards which extend to one hundred hectares around the Petite Champagne and Fin Bois “terroirs." This "field to glass" approach is in the minority in cognac. Aged for a minimum of two years in oak casks, and appreciated by mixologists. The ideal base for cocktails like the Summit for example.
Producer Overview
Distillerie Vinet-Delpech is a family-run business located in the heart of the Cognac region. It is spread over two family-run farms and a vineyard which cover over a hundred hectares in the areas of Petite Champagne and Fins Bois. It is a "field to bottle" distiller, making cognac only from grapes grown in its certified sustainable vineyards. (In contrast to the "big four" cognac houses which make up over 80% of the market and who buy many of their inputs.) All their cognacs are distilled on the lees, yielding a product with more depth and aromatic intensity than modern large-scale methods would allow. Traditional producers of Cognac and Pineau des Charentes, the distillery has also been trading spirits since the 1990s.
